The Blackwall Tunnel (A102) is a road tunnel under the River Thames in east London, connecting Greenwich on the south bank to Tower Hamlets on the north bank. The original northbound tunnel was opened in 1897 and the southbound tunnel in 1967. Managed by Transport for London, the tunnel carries approximately 50,000 vehicles per day and is one of the busiest river crossings in London.
